One Lucky Cowboy (Lucky #2) by Carolyn Brown

Jane Day is on the run from the paid assassin who had been her fiancé. In Wichita Falls, Texas, she meets Nellie Luckadeau, a spitfire of an old lady who desperately needs someone to work on her ranch. But Nellie's drop-dead gorgeous grandson "Lucky Slade" is sure he can spot a con artist a mile away. He's determined not to let some upstart like Jane fleece his granny. When his signature intimidation methods don't convince Jane to leave, he pours on the charm to make her spill what she's up to. She's happy to play along, but she's not going to let this hot, hostile cowboy run her off his land when all she needs is a lucky break…

Okay, I really enjoyed this book till, well, till the moment I kept mumbling and ranting because the story went downhill. Fast. Oh, don't get me wrong, it was still sweet and I still laughed but seriously? You are friends with a Sheriff but you don't get him involved when you are faced with real criminals? You've got all the money that you need at your hands and, oh, right, nobody cares that you are kidnapped? Nobody cares to speak up and tell that you are not...oh, alright. No. Obviously not.
We are talking about that last part of the book though (mostly) that was rather far fetched and constructed. The story didn't flow anymore, it got so many bumps and dumps and...couldn't really convince me anymore.

As I said, I enjoyed the part about Jane and Slade and their banter even though they fight somewhat fierce and I also loved Nellie, Slade's grandmother and the woman who hired this complete stranger at the busstop. I also liked that Nellie and her sister Ellen were full of life and having fun even at the mature age of...oops...but I didn't like the fact that they didn't think that it was wrong to drive drunk or drive half-blind. Sorry, that's a big no-go for me.

As the book still managed to keep me interested, it's 2.5 stars despite everything.

Manhattan: A Small Town Friends-to-Lovers Romance (Becker Brothers Book 3) by Kandi Steiner

Manhattan is a stand-alone, small town, country romance in the Becker Brothers Series.

Everyone knows not to fall in love with your best friend.

But when your best friend is Michael Becker, it’s impossible not to.

He’s everything our town knows a Becker brother to be: devastatingly handsome, charming as a thief, and the icing on the cake — a sentimental musician who’s never without his guitar.

And he was mine. At least, that’s what I’d convinced myself.

Our bond was born in elementary school, strengthened by circumstance and the promise to always be there for each other, no matter what. And the best thing about my life was being friends with Michael Becker.

Until it was the worst.

I watched him fall in love with someone else, and helped patch him back up when she left him behind. But when he drops the bomb that he’s moving to New York, I realize it’s my last chance to tell him how I feel. And I ask him to make one more promise.

One summer. One list of adventures to remind him that our small town has more to offer than memories of the girl who left him behind.

One last chance to tell him I’m in love with him.

And I’m just dumb enough to believe that maybe he could love me, too.

On the whole, I really enjoyed reading this book in the amazing becker Brother series though I must admit that it will never be my favorite one.
Even though I loved our heroine Kylie and wished her that Michael would finally pull his head out of his charming behind and see what was right in front of him, Michael's attitude and the way he was hung up on his former girlfriend who had dumped him and left him behind when she went to Nashville to make their dreams come true. On her own. Sure, I understand that that is a blow to his ego and I understand that he was in love with her and is devastated but, honestly? After a while, I just wanted to kick him and tell him to suck it up and get his life back.

But, well, do you know the Becker Brothers already? If you know them, you will also know that this family is just irresistible. They are charming and fun and absolutely loyal so, let#s just say that the rest of the family and Kylie make up for a lot.

I was a bit disappointed though that we didn't learn much more about the death of their father. Ever since the first book, the brothers have been trying to find out more about his death because the circumstances of his death...yeah. Definitely suspicious. And I must admit that I had hoped that we'd learn more about him and that fire but I guess I'll have to wait for the next and last book of the series to do so.
Despite that, I still couldn't put the book down, so it is still four stars - and I'm waiting anxiously for the next book!

Holiday Crown (Royal Conquest Saga #4) by Nikki Jefford

 Synopsis:

Dahlquist is brimming with gifts and good cheer. While King Liri spends the holidays with his queen in the mortal realm, it's up to a certain elf and her brood to rule.

It’s all fun and fa-la-las at the castle—until the holidays turn into a deadly game of hide-and-seek.

While some of the family is getting naughty, others are hunting down an escaped prisoner who isn't playing nice. Meanwhile, will a wish for a future bundle wrapped in pink come true?

This holiday you're invited to come deck the halls of Dahlquist.

A short, sweet and funny addition to the Royal Conquest Saga, this book will have you laughing and furiously turning the pages when love and betrayal invade the palace. Lark and Fraya, the kids of our main characters who have turned into teenagers in the years since we last "met" them, have to step up and save the day - and maybe even a kingdom while the grown-ups, well...sleep?
Okay, maybe not voluntarily. And not all of them - but, oh, well, just trust me, there's a lot of fun and adventure going around and you really don't want to miss it!

The Howl (By Kiss and Claw Book 1) by Melissa Haag

Synopsis:

Most parents want their kids to grow up to be something respectable like a doctor or lawyer. My mom wants me to become a man-eating ho. I, Eliana Barchim, vow to never follow my mother’s footsteps.

Eliana’s determination to never be the succubus her mother wants to be starts to falter when her mother unexpectedly interferes. It doesn’t help that a local shifter with a cute dimple is trying to help cheer Eliana up when her best and only friend leaves town. With her control slipping, Eliana resorts to something distract to get rid of her mom.

Eliana’s fear of ruining the one person she can trust to stand by her side might be the thing that brings her carefully composed control to its knees. Nothing can withstand a starving succubus’s hunger.

I love all of Melissa Haag's books though her Fury series is my favorite to date. Well, I should say - it was my favorite. At the moment it is a toss-up between Megan and Eliana's story. Howl is simply amazing and an absolute pleasure to read!

I fell in love with sweet tackle hugging Eliana, our sweet little succubus who doesn't want to act like a true succubus for fear of hurting her victims, right from the start in the Fates and Furies books and reading her own story now in The Howl - sigh- I love it. This book is once again keeping me on my toes with so much happening left and right, with so many awesome characters and an amazing story to boot. The whole time I didn't know whether I was rather upset with all those meddling well-meaning (Are they? All of them?) grown-ups and the way they try to run (and ruin) Eliana's life. I would have loved to hug her and I was furious and sad and seriously, I wanted so much to kick soneone's behind - yep. As I said, this book kept me on my toes.

Fenris, the werewolf,  was always there, having Eliana's back and trying to help her and to support her and I loved to see that they slowly, very slowly found their way to each other. Okay, it is very slowly, so don't expect too much from these two in this book yet but I'm sure that their time will come, all signs are there!
The minor characters though, well, those are not as shy as our main characters ... Don't get me started on Eliana's mother but there's also Piepen... Piepen is hilarious, shameless and all in all a great addition - at least on paper and safely hidden in this book. I'm pretty sure that he'd drive me crazy if I'd have to deal with him in person in real life!

Amazing characters, a great story and a wonderful start to a new series - I can't wait to read the next book!

BLOG TOUR - Break the Rules (Loveless Brothers #3) by Roxie Noir #BreakTheRules

 BLOG TOUR

The third book in the Loveless Brothers series is finally here!

Synopsis

She’s my best friend’s kid sister.
Only she’s not a kid any more.

As a forest ranger, I believe in the simple life. I prefer cabins to apartments, trails to freeways, and trees to people. My life is orderly, predictable, and quiet.

Until it’s hit by a woman I never saw coming -- Hurricane June.

She’s fierce. She’s feisty. She has a laugh like the first day of spring, and she’s so pretty that I can’t breathe when I look at her. June will only be in town for a few months—just while job-hunting. She won’t last until winter, but how can I resist?

Except I have to. She’s my best, oldest, and most loyal friend’s baby sister.

Betraying him would be the worst thing I’ve ever done. Not betraying him might be the hardest.

Especially once we start working together on a secret project. All this spending time together, sneaking around at night, and lying to her brother about what we’re doing sure feels like more than friendship.

June might break my heart. Her brother might break my nose.

But I guess some things were made to be broken.

Okay, these Loveless Brothers are definitely something else. I love how close they are even though they are all very different. They care for each other and they support each other no matter what happens.

When June is rescued by Levi during a thunderstorm, she can't believe that her longtime crush is really the one who turns up next to her car. Those two know that falling in love would be a bad idea, considering how close Levi and June's brother are and, well, June isn't exactly there to stay anyway. Somehow those stupid hormones and all those mushy feelings don't listen to reason though, and those two don't just fall in love, they crash and burn, bright with lots of sparks and fireworks of the very best kind - and suddenly there's no way back...

Hiding a love like theirs from others in a place like Sprucevale, yeah, that's pretty impossible. The only one who doesn't figure it out is the one who should have known about it right from the beginning but the longer they hide, well, it doesn't get easier, right? While trying to find some tree murderers, trying to keep their undercover relationship undercover and trying to find a job, well, at least June is trying to find one, the two of them are getting closer and closer and the deadline looming at the end of it...ugh. When things fall apart and June has to leave, both of them have to think hard and to find out what really counts. Is their love worth fighting for or were they really doomed from the beginning?

Fortunately, the Loveless brothers never fail to be right where they are needed and if Levi needs a bit help to figure out what he wants and needs, well, his brothers are right there and up to the task!
With June trying to figure out what her dreams are and Levi willing to fight for the love of his life there might even be a HEA at the end of the road.

I really loved the story and the characters, though I must admit that I was a bit irritated because Levi always seemed to forget about his dog... I know, I'm nit-picking there but if felt as if it was always left at home and didn't need anything, neither food nor a walk nor...
Apart from that though, I really enjoyed the book and can't wait for the next book in this series to come out!

(BTW...Yes, they move wrong... 😉)

EXCERPT

I like this side of Levi. It’s a side I’ve only ever seen glimpses of before in the past two weeks — sweet, slightly goofy, teasing and funny, different from the serious, quiet man I thought he was. It’s a strange revelation, but a good one, even if I wish I liked it less.

“One minute,” I tell him, and pull back from the window.

I shut it. I pull the curtains closed.
I wonder what I’m doing and why on earth Levi has shown up beneath my bedroom window at twelve-thirty in the morning. I wish that the sight of him down there had made me feel differently, that I was indifferent and vaguely curious instead of suddenly buzzing and feeling like I’m being lifted aloft by several large birds.

I tiptoe down the stairs and through the living room, still wondering. I haven’t heard from him at all since we ate pizza in the back of his truck two nights ago, and I wish that didn’t bother me. I wish I thought less about him sitting there, as night fell, laughing and showing me his cell phone or telling me that he’s an alien.

I wish I thought less about him, period.

When I get outside, Levi’s leaning against his truck, his shoulder-length hair out of its usual knot.

I’m not sure I remember seeing him with his hair down before. He looks different. Relaxed. Like himself.

“I named the dog,” he says as I walk up to him.

I don’t know what I was expecting him to say, but that wasn’t it.

“You do know that the last time a man came to my window, I called my brother to get rid of him,” I say. “I’m sure he told you about that.”

He certainly did,” Levi said. “And if I were in my right mind, it might have deterred me.”

You’re in your wrong mind, then?” I ask, tilting my head slightly, keeping my voice down.

You didn’t ask what I named the dog,” he says.

Did you come here at twelve-thirty in the morning to tell me you named your dog?” I ask.
Levi smiles, holds out one hand. I step forward and take it, his skin warm and he enfolds my fingers in his.

No,” he says. “I came here to say that I think you should come back to my place for a nightcap.”

A nightcap?”

Yes,” he says. “I’d like to take you home, fix you a drink, and seduce you, and I’d like to do it without thinking even once of your brother.”

I live in California with my very own sexy, bearded, whiskey-loving husband and two hell-raising cats.

Release Blitz - Blindsided by Amy Daws #Blindsided

NOW LIVE!

What happens when an almost thirty-year-old virgin agrees to let her Scottish footballer best friend give her some lessons in seduction?

Lots of banter, awkwardness, jealousy, and heat.

Midfielder Maclay “Mac” Logan is a loud-mouthed, tattooed ginger content with focusing on football. But when an adorably-freckled seamstress comes barreling into his life, he finds Netflix-And-Bickering with her to be his new favorite pastime.

Freya Cook is used to being the invisible woman with a needle and thread, offering cheeky punchlines as she helps dress London’s finest. She’s plus-sized in body and spirit, and other than her
friendship with Mac, talking to the opposite sex is one skill she never mastered.

However, after one innocent game of Never Have I Ever, Mac offers to play Love Coach for Freya.

What neither of them see coming are the feelings that develop when the clothes come off.

Now they’re both about to learn the biggest lesson of all: Don't fall in love with your best friend.

Blindsided is a full length (97,000 words) contemporary rom-com standalone with a sports theme.

On the whole, this book was once again a book that I thoroughly enjoyed even though it took me some time to get into it. I loved Freya from the start and, well, you can't not love Mac, of course, but at first, it felt a bit slow and I kept putting the book down only to try again a bit later - till I couldn't put it down anymore but got sucked into it till the end.

The chemistry (and the witty banter) between the two was great and of course, it is a friends-to-lovers story so it was destined to make me mad at times when the two ...participants at this game... are just too dense to realize what or rather who they need and instead suffer needlessly. And, I mean - who did ever believe that it is possible to throw some sex in the mix and just stay friends? Who really believes that that won't change anything? Yep. The kind of person who is in denial.

With everything going on in Mac's life, I could understand why he ...nope. Actually, I couldn't understand his decisions. Sure, in his situation it is kind of understandable but he. should. have. known. better. I may have cried a bit and I may have been frustrated a...lot... and I may have waited impatiently for him to finally wake up.

Freya...oh my.... sweet and cute Freya and their witty banter who never saw it coming because she was so hung up on her curves that she never expected someone like Mac falling for her. I loved that her curves and her insecurities about them, were a topic but never dominated the discussion. It was not about body shaming or the pounds you got but about her feeling good in her skin and knowing that she is beautiful no matter what her size. Well, guess what? If she expected her curves to act as a security blanket to prevent both of them from falling in love, welllllllllll... No chance there.

Mac never expected to fall in love and it took him some time to realize what had happened to him.

“You blindsided me, Freya. You blindsided me with everything I never knew I wanted.”

I really enjoyed reading this book. If you have read the other books in this series - great, you'll love this sequel as well! If you haven't? Don't worry. You will. Right after you have finished this book.
And I will be waiting impatiently now for the next book because I may have an idea whose book will be next. There was this scene with ...oh, I guess I'll see if a certain lawyer gets his chance at love...

EXCERPT

“Christ, woman,” he snaps, his eyes dropping down my body like he’s seeing me in a new light.
“You’re a fucking virgin, and you never told me? I’m your best mate! Why wouldn’t you share that
information with me?”
“We don’t talk about The Sex!” I exclaim defensively.
“I know, but this seems like something you should have mentioned to me at some point.” He
stands up and begins pacing in front of me, shaking his head like he’s just been told the world is
round for the first time and he can’t fully wrap his mind around it. “Christ, a virgin?”
“Would you stop saying it like it’s that big of a deal?” I snap, my entire body folding in on itself
with embarrassment.
“It is a big deal,” he replies, stopping his pacing to glower down at me with his hands on his
hips.
“It’s not a big deal to me!” I exclaim and stand up to meet him eye to eye. Well, more like eye to
chest. “I’m not saving myself or something. It’s not some religious thing, and it’s not for lack of
trying. I’ve put myself out there in the past, in all my awkward glory, and it just never happened for
some reason,” I huff, angry that I have to explain how romantically unlucky I’ve been. “Then I just
got tired of trying so hard, so I took a break and focused on my career. A long break, I suppose. But
I’m done with all that now. I’m eager to get shot of my maiden tag as soon as possible, which is why

I thought going out on a date with Santino would be a good idea. Especially if he’s experienced like
you say.”
Mac’s face contorts. “What the actual fuck is a maiden tag?”
I flush, not realising I said that bit out loud. Shrugging, I reply, “It’s what my gran called my
virginity.” I cross my arms over my chest, suddenly feeling very exposed under the London night
sky.
Mac visibly tremors. “You’re not giving your maiden tag to that fucking arsehole,” he seethes,
finally realising what my last comment meant.
“Well, not now obviously,” I reply with agitation. “You basically ruined that chance for me.”

EXCERPT

I wake the next morning to a rough tongue touching my nipple. A smile spreads across my face
as I open my eyes and expect to find Freya. My face falls when I see it’s her fucking demon of a cat
laving at my pec like it’s going to produce milk at any moment.
“Fuck off, you wee bastard!” I bellow and shove the animal off my chest.
Hercules takes off down the hallway, and a snort echoes in the room. I turn my gaze to find
Freya perched on a chair in the corner of her bedroom. She’s dressed in a long nightshirt, her red
hair a wild mess of curls, and her makeup smudged like she was properly fucked last night. And she
looks positively entertained.
“Did you just sit there and watch your cat violate me?” I croak, sitting up and rubbing my
tender nipple.
She giggles and steadies herself so as not to spill the two cups of coffee in her hands. “I came in
to bring you a coffee, but Hercules looked like he was warming up to you, so I just sat down here to
not interrupt. I had no idea he was going to lick your tit.” She bursts out laughing all over again.
“You and I are in a fight then,” I reply gruffly, propping myself up on the headboard of her
bed. “That was disturbing.”
She nods, her face still tormented with poorly concealed laughter. “For us all.”

Moon Cursed (Wolf Hollow Shifters #4) by Nikki Jefford

Synopsis

Time is running out for Elsie.

Elsie's coven always believed that she was moon cursed. Promised to the bear shifters before she was ever born, the witch wolf shifter has until her twentieth birthday to outsmart Brutus, her would-be mate who only wants her as payback.

To save his coven, her father made a terrible, magically binding agreement decades ago, never dreaming he'd have children, especially not powerful wolf shifters. Luckily, he never specified what type of shifter Elsie must claim.

Zackary doesn't believe he deserves love or forgiveness.

Ever since he betrayed a packmate, Zackary has been making up for his sins. No matter what, he knows the truth. Once a mongrel, always a mongrel—just like his father always told him. Now the mad wolf has returned to torment Zackary and the pack.

Not one to be scared off, Elsie, the sweetest and loveliest of all females, refuses to believe he's no good for anyone—especially her.

Fated mates or doomed lovers?

Zackary and Elsie never knew how strong their love would grow … until they're in too deep.

Zackary betrayed Elsie's brother once before. If the wizard shifter knew what he was doing with Elsie in private, Tabor would kill, maim, or use that dick shrinkage spell he once threatened him with.

With a meddlesome ex from her coven, who won't let go, and a brute of a bear shifter intent on trapping her inside his cave forever, it will take more than magic to save Elsie from her curse.

Do these star-crossed lovers stand a chance?

Oh my, this series just keeps getting better and better! I remember that it took me some time to get into it when I read Wolf Hollow, the first book in this series because I thought that it was all so foreseeable and ...yep, forget about that. It wasn't. And Moon Cursed, the latest book in the Wolf Hollow Shifter series, also kept me on my toes, made me scream with frustration, sob, laugh, swoon - oh, don't forget to stock up on Kleenex before you start...yep, just saying, you'll want to be prepared, trust me.

Elsie is running out of time and things seem to progress the way she hoped, even though it takes a bit to convince Zackary to take a chance on her, I mean - her brother? This big bad and powerful wizard? Riiiiight... That's exactly what everybody dreams of when they think of their future brother-in-law. Not. And those of you who have read the other books in this series might remember that her brother Tabor and Zackary don't have the best history, considering all that happened when Zackary and his father tried to prevent Tabor from mating with Sasha
in Wolf Hollow.
With Elsie fighting against time, a feral wolf on the loose, her meddlesome ex trying to help and everything else, things get rather tight. Will Zackary be able to overcome all the obstacles that prevent him from claiming the woman he loves?

Cocky purebloods, meddlesome and furious wizards notwithstanding, there are a lot of wonderful and interesting friends, old and new, to meet, a love to pursue and a damsel in distress waiting to be saved. Throw in a brutal and revengeful bear shifter biding his time and, oh, yes, don't forget that feral wolf and you know that you are in for a ride!

Well, he exists, but he definitely has no idea Angelle told her mama they were engaged. But when she ends up winning Cane at a charity bachelor auction, she knows just how to solve her fiancé problem.

But even as Angelle burrows deeper into his heart, he knows once their seven days are up, so is their ruse.

Just a quick note to say that I really enjoyed reading this book! It was warm and cute and I didn't put it down till the last page. I loved the whole atmosphere with the country cajun and I seriously need to learn how to cook all these amazing sounding dishes! Oh, well, there's also the chemistry between Angelle and Cane that is just off the charts. Angelle's family - and their friends and their neighbors and their...well, their whole town were an experience, welcoming, okay, mostly...right, in the end, kind of...perhaps...anyway, I loved the idea of this town caring for their prodigal daughter and all the dacing and the cooking and the celebrations and... SIGH.
Yup, I really enjoyed reading this book and even though this was my first book by this author it definitely won't be the last!

Wolf Instinct (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #9) by Paige Tyler

 Synopsis

He's a wolf shifter.
She hunts monsters.
How can she be The One for him?

SWAT werewolf Zane Kendrick will do whatever it takes to take down the man who attacked his pack. His search takes him to Los Angeles, but when he meets Alyssa, the smart, sexy agent who comes to his aid, he's immediately interested in pursuing more than just the next lead. All his wolf instincts tell him that she's The One.

FBI agent Alyssa Carson has investigated some weird stuff lately, and finding missing people drained of their blood definitely falls into that category. When following a clue leads her to Zane, she agrees to work with him and his team. She's attracted to the gorgeous Brit, but she doesn't have time for anything but finding answers.

When Zane and Alyssa discover the sinister truth, it'll take everything they have to make it out of this mission with their lives―and hearts―intact.

This book left me a bit torn. On the one hand, I tore through it, I read and read and read and never put the book down.
It was full of suspense and action and I really enjoyed it - and when I finished it, I stumbled upon thousands of things that didn't really make sense because, well, we have this experienced and powerful SWAT Team on the one side and on the other side we have a number of institutions and supernatural creatures, you know, those creatures that go bump in the night...and none of these experienced SWAT-guys knew anything about those creatures and institutions? None of them had ever heard about any of them?

I loved how Zane and Alyssa clicked and all that action but, yup, I am torn. I'll definitely read it again and I will read the other books in this series that I haven't read yet (okay, I have read most of them but not all of them) and I will also read every other book that the author writes but I'm a bit miffed that so many things turned up, well, out of the blue despite the fact that it made for a hell of a story.

Red Zone (Red Zone #1) by Janet Elizabeth Henderson

 SYNOPSIS

Welcome to the new world. Things have changed just a bit. Big Brother’s not only monitoring important things like what toilet paper you buy—it now has direct access to everything you see thanks to the mandatory implant you get at birth. And Friday Jones has seen something she wishes she hadn’t.

Now she has all kinds of undesirables after her—some to straight up kill her and others who want to steal what’s locked in her head. So, she’ll need the help of a ruthless mercenary, Striker, if she has any chance at survival. That he’s a jerk, who she wants to punch in the face, well…a dying woman sometimes has to make tough choices.

Striker’s special abilities have kept him in the shadows for a reason. He has no interest in getting mixed up with the smart-mouthed, hard-headed women no matter how his body reacts. But then he discovers what’s in her head and all bets are off.

Wow, what a pleasant surprise! I just saw the cover and, well, being a cover-lover I went for it. I bought this book and "just browsing" immediately turned into reading intensely and not putting it down. This imaginative, fantastic story full of suspense, action and romance drew me in from the first page on.

I loved Friday so much, she is a wonderful character, full of quirks and when she starts to think and, yep, chocolate... I laughed so much and I mean, who could resist that talking, hitch-hiking handbag with an attitude to match its....partner's? Did I forget to mention that the talking handbag is also lethal? Well, yeah, it is. And it loves to cuddle - go figure.

Though I forgot to mention our hero, Striker. Friday and Striker are an amazing couple, you can feel not only their chemistry but even more their love right from the start. You get it, you can feel why Striker, the hard, capable Striker falls for Friday with all her quirks and her open heart who embraces everyone. At first she seems weak though the reader very soon realizes how intelligent and strong she really is, how capable and courageous. She is not fearless but no matter what happens, she pulls through, she fights, she cares even with a death sentence hanging over her head and things very soon going to hell, she still cares for others and never gives up.

Did I mention how much I loved this book?

 SYNOPSIS

I didn’t mean to see him naked--it was an accident.

It had to be, right?

Because Noah McCormick and I have never been anything more than friends. In all the years I’ve known him, he’s never once laid a finger on me. And even though he was a cute lifeguard at 16 and a hotter-than-hell sheriff’s deputy at 34, he's always been that protective guy I could trust to keep his hands to himself. I never wanted to mess with that.

Until I walked in on him getting out of the shower and saw his hard, muscular body totally bare and dripping wet. At that moment I never wanted to mess with anything so badly in my entire life.

I should have covered my eyes. Said I was sorry. At the very least, I could have handed him a towel.

After all, I was only in town for a few days, and he was just doing me a favor by escorting me to my sister’s wedding. It wasn’t a real date.

But I didn’t apologize. And he didn’t cover up.

(Talk about a hot mess.)

After all those years of being just friends, suddenly we’re insatiable.

He’s made it clear he’s not interested in romance. Which is fine with me because I’ve got a plane ticket back to my real life at the end of the week.

It’s all in fun...or is it?

Well, I guess Meg would think of Melanie Harlow's books as Twinkies, comforting and nice though I'd like to throw in some of these Shishito peppers that she mentions that once in a while pack an extra fiery punch or two. Some spice, some sparks, some major chemistry right in the middle of all this comfort and loveliness.

I loved the first books in this series but maybe I like Noah and Meg's story even better than the others. I'm not sure yet but this book had it all, it was cute and warm with lots of romance, chemistry and don't forget about those sparks, those two have those in heaps!
Noah and Meg have always been close ever since he saved her life in High School but they never explored their chemistry.

When Meg comes back home to lick her wounds after another failed relationship, things change and what-if might turn into that's-it - if it wasn't for Noah and his fears. When his ex-fiancée left him in the dust after his father's death he was devastated and things never got serious after that again. Till now. It takes him some time and I must admit that I got a bit impatient with him because he was so hung up on his past and his fears - and suddenly everything changed and I felt like screaming "Finally, fi-na-llyyyyyy!".

Once again I loved the secondary characters like Noah's twin brother Asher and their relationship. I loved how close those two were and on the other hand, I also loved to see Asher fight for his independence, for a life of his own. He will always need some help but he can still do so much more than his family with all their love expect him to do and let him do.

On the whole, this was another wonderful book in a series that I really love - and if you haven't read the other books, trust me, you'll want to go back and read them even though this can be read as a standalone.

EXCERPT

Sawyer?” I said in disbelief.
Breaking into a huge grin, she started to run.
I was still standing there in shock when she barreled into me, throwing her arms around my neck. She smelled fucking fantastic. Feminine, sweet, delectable.
What are you doing here?” I asked, trying to hug her back without getting sweat or paint on her. “I thought you didn’t get in until Thursday.”
I changed my ticket.” She let go just enough to smile up at me impishly. “I’m glad to see you too.”
I laughed. “I’m glad to see you. You just surprised me is all.”
That was my plan.” She stepped back, and I figured my odor was probably repulsing her.
I stink, sorry. I went for a run earlier and I never showered. Then I painted the garage.”
I never mind the smell of sweat. It means hard work.” She brightened. “Will you run tomorrow? I’d love to go with you.
Sure. We can run tomorrow. I’m off again.”
Great! Although I’m probably way out of shape.” She made a face. “My work schedule is so crazy, I don’t run as much as I used to.”
You look great,” I told her. And it was true—she did look great. Maybe not quite as skinny as the last time I’d seen her, but the added curves looked good on her. My eyes wandered without my brain’s permission to her slightly fuller chest and rounder hips. Quickly, I attempted to look at her face again, but then my gaze lingered on her mouth. I remembered what it had looked like the other night in my fantasy as she’d wrapped her lips around my cock and moaned like it was the best thing she’d ever tasted.
My dick twitched beneath my running shorts, and I cleared my throat. “You’ve got a favorite murder? Is there something I need to know?”
She glanced down at her shirt and smiled. “It’s a podcast about true crime. I’m addicted.”
Never heard of it.”
A sound of exasperation escaped her. “You live under a rock! I can’t believe you’re still not on social media.”
Yes, you can.”
Okay, I can, but it makes it really hard to stalk you.”
I shook my head. “People like you are exactly why I don’t want to be on social media.”
She hit me on the shoulder. “I’m kidding! I just want to keep up with your life. I miss you.”
So come home more often. Talk to my face.”
She grinned. “I do like seeing your face. Want to go grab a beer? Maybe some food?”
Sure.”
