Lily Farthingale, the scholarly twin, dreams of becoming the first female member of the Royal Society. She grabs at the chance when the elderly Duke of Lotheil approaches her with a proposition—he’ll admit her into the Royal Society, if she helps him to establish a relation with his estranged grandson, Ewan Cameron, a very rough-around-the-edges Scotsman who hates everything English. Between shootings, explosions, and Lily’s abduction, Ewan ends up falling in love with Lily in this Pygmalion-inspired story.

Dieses Buch habe ich mittlerweile etliche Male gelesen, nicht nur, weil ich den Humor darin sehr liebe (was ich aber definitiv tue), sondern auch, weil ich die Charaktere einfach klasse finde.
Angefangen bei der ersten Begegnung von Lily und Ewan bis zum (vielleicht) glücklichen Ende,habe ich so oft laut gelacht und still vergnügt vor mich hingekichert, dass ich auch von diesem Buch sagen kann, dass es für mich nicht öffentlichkeitsauglich ist.

Lily und Ewan sind ebenso wie Lilys gesamte Familie einfach unwahrscheinlich sympathische Charaktere, so dass es auch deshalb schon Spaß bringt, Zeit mit ihnen zu verbringen. Aber auch die Geschichte selbst gefällt mir gut, sie ist in sich rund und stimmig, dabei aber fesselnd und interessant.
Der Schreibstil ist locker und luftig, dabei sehr humorvoll und flüssig, so dass es sich einfach nur gut liest.

Kaum hatte ich das Buch "zugeklappt", musste ich gleich gucken, wie es weitergeht. Inzwischen habe ich auch den zweiten Band gelesen und liebe diesen ebenfalls sehr, aber auch der dritte Band wird wohl demnächst folgen, weil mir diese Reihe einfach wirklich gut gefällt.
