False Queen (Royal Conquest Book 2) by Nikki Jefford #FalseQueen

 The story:

>> He gave her his loyalty. Will he give her his heart? <<

I married a murderer.

A Fae king who claimed me to punish his family.

My in-laws may be beautiful and cruel, but their cousins are far worse. The vile tyrants would bury us all with a laugh and a smile if it meant taking Liri’s kingdom from him. They refuse to accept a human as Queen of Dahlquist. They want me gone.

When things turn perilous, who does Liri turn to? “Sweet Aerith”, of course.
I love my elven sister-in-law, but I’m afraid Liri still does, too.

More than my heart is at stake. The entire kingdom is at risk of falling into treacherous hands. Our family will have to put aside our differences and band together if we want to save our realm.

My soul is another matter. When a malevolent enchantment is placed, only one thing can save me… True love.

I must admit that as much as I loved this story, sometimes it really kept me on my toes because there was so much action and so much going on and the different perspectives sometimes made it hard for me to follow where exactly I was and with whom. There were parts where it also felt a bit rushed so, well, this book feels a bit like a small whirlwind.

Apart from that, this story was as charming, unique and captivating as Stolen Princess, the first book in the series which I also loved.
I mean, this book really got everything, the loving or not so loving family, cuckoo's eggs in some ...nests..., traitors, ogres, destruction and lots of fighting as well as love, loyalty, and friendship.

All in all it's funny, entertaining while leaving you breathless.....and frustrated. A cliffhanger! And trust me, not a teeny tiny one but a pretty bad one...I'm not sure yet if I'll get over it. The next book might help though, so I can't wait to read it!
