Seduced by a Prince (Imposters #1) by Tanya Anne Crosby
Blurb:
Merrick Welbourne never anticipated discovering a long-lost twin—particularly one who'd rob him
and leave him for dead on the road. Now living his brother's aristocratic life, he has new trials, tribulations... and temptations, not the least being Chloe Simon, a woman of rare mettle, proud heart, and unprecedented beauty. But she’s no easy mark for a perceived highwayman.
Chloe Simon knew Lord Lindale was definitely not himself. After encountering the masked highwayman Hawk left for dead, he seemed... somehow different. Maybe more approachable? Infinitely more... desirable. Entirely too irresistible. In a stolen moment of startling intimacy, he makes her feel like titled nobility. But she was only ever a doctor's daughter, with every reason to steer clear of his very kissable lips.
This book is a relaunch of the book The Impostor's Kiss, the first book in the Impostor series, one of the author's earlier works but nevertheless as charming, fascinating and captivating as, well, actually all of her books that I've read up to now.
I really loved reading this book about an impostor...or a lost son...or love or maybe about the friends that you make that turn a place to live into a home, a place where you belong.
When Merrick Welbourne, our prince, and hero travels to Glen Abbey in the wilds of Scotland, he doesn't expect to be confronted with a carbon copy of himself - and especially not under these circumstances! But it is not just a twin that he discovers but also a mother and, of course, our heroine, the very intriguing Chloe Simon who captures his heart right from the start. She, well, it takes her a bit longer to fall in love, after all, she can't understand why the pompous Ian, Earl of Lindale suddenly behaves completely different!
While posing as Ian and living Ian's life, Merrick learns to value a very different kind of life, harder for sure, but one that is much more satisfying than his own life. Falling in love, caring for those whose life is entrusted to his care - how will he be able to ever leave again? Oh, and then there's still the question of the highwayman, Hawk, who caused all of this and of course - his brother, Ian, who drove away in Merrick's carriage and hasn't been heard of since. What could he be up to?
This question will be answered in the second book in this series, A Crown For A Lady and I can't wait to read it! I loved Merrick and Chloe's story even though I was a bit shocked at the beginning when Fiona, Merrick and Ian's mother was presented with an impossible choice - oh, and I can't understand the children's father and his behavior at all but maybe, maybe the next book will redeem him. A bit. Perhaps.
