Blurb:
Lennon McCartney is not a broken man. Because being broken implies being whole once. When a horrific accident deprives him of the one thing he loves—his talent as a fierce and explosive drummer—Lennon is left with a life chained by an abusive mother, by crushing guilt over a tragic past. A life he doesn’t want.
Dr. Georgia Starr is a legend. She’s one of the most successful neurosurgeons in the world, coming from a long-line of respected New York doctors. Her life is built around solving complex medical cases in order to bring relief and hope to sick children. But the one problem she can’t solve is how to live her life. How to be shake loose the burden of being her elitist, arrogant father’s daughter. How to be free.
Can a man who despises his life and a woman who desperately needs to live find the answers, and love, with each other?
**Warning: Deals with dark themes and deep personal struggles.**
Oh, my.... This book should come with a big fat warning: Bring handkerchiefs, wear no mascara, not even the waterproof kind and - most important: DON'T READ IN PUBLIC!
Yup, you will cry, believe me and you will close the book, let's say, some chapters in and will scream and rant and you will hate the author. She might redeem herself till the end but - wow, that was a blow.
I mean, we all know by now (or if you don't, well, I guess that you haven't read the other books in this series, right?) that those guys didn't have an easy life. Far from it. Every single one of those members of "Preload", a rock band, has a shitty past so I'm all for them getting a new chance and a new life and happiness and all that stuff. I wasn't prepared for THAT. Definitely not. Lennon has a very hard time ahead in this book and I felt and cried and fought with him. Fortunately, though, he has Georgia at his side. Georgia is perfect - and perfect for him. I loved their interactions, their sparks and I loved how she went out of her way to help him and to be there for him when he needed someone at his side, someone to fight for and someone to hold onto when things got too rough.
Oh, and don't worry, the rest of the band is around as well, at least as much as they are allowed and this family by choice and the way they care for each other? Wow. Simply amazing! I really love this band, these guys and their women and simply this series!
Another emotional roller coaster and a brilliant book by Scarlett Cole!
